Paramite Selective Miticide is now also registered for control of Oriental Spider Mite in citrus, and for Two-spotted Mite in wine grapes, trellis-and ground tomatoes and capsicums. The withholding period for citrus is 28 days, 21 days for wine grapes and 7 days for tomatoes and capsicums.
Paramite is a novel insect growth regulator that controls mites by disrupting their lifecycle so that eggs and nymphs never make it to maturity. Whilst Paramite does not kill adult mites, it sterilizes the females and no viable eggs are laid. As a general rule, the period of residual activity obtained from a Paramite spray is similar to that observed in other crops, and it is not unusual for Paramite to suppress mite populations for 30 days or longer. Since Paramite does not kill adult mites, the use of a knock-down miticide to eliminate large populations of adult mites before using Paramite is recommended.
Citrus growers in particular will benefit from Paramite’s beneficial insect profile. As a mite-specific IGR, Paramite is practically benign to the complex of beneficial insects in citrus, including bees.
Paramite is available in 5L packs from selected agrochemical Resellers.
