Sumitomo Chemical Australia Pty Limited has been notified by an Australian third-party packaging provider that certain 20L co-ex smart cubes manufactured between February 2025 and February 2026 contain a packaging manufacturing defect. The packaging defect relates to failures along the container's seam when drop tested on a particular orientation, as dangerous goods packaging. Although Sumi-Alpha Flex Insecticide remains safe and effective for use in accordance with APVMA approved label directions, as a precautionary measure, a voluntary recall is being initiated for Sumi-Alpha Flex Insecticide packaged in these containers.
Growers who have Sumi-Alpha Flex Insecticide on hand are requested to return the product to their point of purchase.
Sumitomo Chemical Australia is currently working with the APVMA, regarding the voluntary recall. Sumitomo Chemical Australia will disseminate the information contained in this note via the Sumitomo Chemical website www.sumitomo-chem.com.au and by direct communication with resellers of the product. We will also contact relevant industry groups and request this information be sent to all relevant members.
Sumitomo Chemical Australia takes all quality issues very seriously and apologises for any inconvenience caused.
